Glisson Family Opens G5 Feed and Outdoor

The Glisson family, your hosts at the Timbers at Chama, are pleased to announce the opening of G5 Feed and Outdoors in Plant City, Florida.  The Gilsson family has a long history of life in the outdoors.

G5 Feed and Outdoor is a family-owned business with a passion for all things that happen outside. Behind every product you’ll find in our Plant City, Florida store, there is  more than 20 years in business and three generations of experience standing behind it. We believe there’s no substitute for outdoor gear and products that have been tested to perform and give you the confidence they will last, even in the most rugged conditions.  So we only carry those items we’d use ourselves at the Timbers at Chama… from trusted brands like Arctic Cat off-road vehicles, YETI coolers, CASE Knives, Cashel horse tack, Big Green Egg grills and much more.

In the 1960s, the G5 mark was used to brand the cattle and other livestock on the Glisson family ranch in the heartland of Florida.  G represented the family name.  The 5 represented family patriarch Ivey William Glisson, his wife Annie, and their three children – a family of five.  No one taught us to love the outdoors.  It was part of our lifestyle.  All of the Glisson children grew up working in the family business, but always had the opportunity to pursue other interests: Farming, riding, hunting, fishing – we embrace these as part of our heritage.  With the third generation of Glissons now joining the family business, outdoor interests have become our legacy.

The first phase of extending the Glisson family business was founded in cattle and livestock origins.  The Hay Exchange was established in 1995 to provide top quality hays to feed stores, wholesalers and distributors in Florida.

After several years in operation, Bill responded to requests from local farmers and horse owners in Plant City, FL and surrounding communities by expanding to include a retail store for direct purchases of hay, animal health products, feeds, and farm supplies.  We also couldn’t help but add other outdoor products that we love and enjoy during our family gatherings and vacations.

At the Timbers you will find the same passion we have for the outdoors.  Our style of hunting and fishing shows the utmost respect that we have for our quarry and for our hunter friends that share this amazing place high in the New Mexico Rocky Mountains.  The Timbers at Chama is truly one of the last great places in America.  We hope to have you as a guest soon!
