With bull elk archery season well underway, we want to pause and give thanks for the beauty of the Chama River Valley and all of the good friends we have made hunting together here in the high country of northern New Mexico.
Our good friends Tim and Dave had a great second day of the hunt, harvesting two bull elk. Light rain was falling. The sky was filled with rainbows and mountains looked lush and green.
It’s times like these that remind us what a special place the Timbers really is. Set amid one of the most scenic valleys in America, we enjoy the benefits of being close enough to great dining, culture and history, but still far enough away to be truly close to nature. Every day brings another surprise. It might be a herd of a hundred Rocky Mountain Elk grazing on the mountainside. Or it may be a flock of majestic Merriam Turkeys engaged in their mating rituals. Or it may simply be the amazing beauty of a rainbow framing the dramatic Brazos Cliffs.
And when out hunter friends arrive, the Timbers takes on a new life of fellowship. We always appreciate sharing the wonders of the Chama River Valley with both new hunters and old friends alike. Many of our guests have been coming back for years. The Timbers is the kind of place that gets under your skin and you can never really leave it behind.
